The actuaries tell us that for every so many miles we drive, we're going to have an accident. Well, I must have driven those miles, because I had one. The good news is that it was low-speed and very minor. And what I wanted to tell you about, is this great body shop - National Auto Collision Center, at Swan and Broadway. I got great service from manager Amy Jones. Turns out they use water-based paints and avoid all the VOC's, and you should have seen the pile of minimally damaged bumpers. Instead of burying them in our landfill, there's a crafty fellow who collects them, does the minor fixing that's necessary and then resells them to do-it-yourselfers or perhaps “across the border” repair shops. In any event, I'm glad I found National and wanted to pass this information along to you.
I was shopping at Home Depot to buy compact fluorescent lights for my home, and found that Tucson Electric Power along with other Arizona power companies are subsidizing the cost of this product. A 4-pack costs $1.85. Now is a great time to buy them, so stock up!

What: RUMBA is an annual student art showcase and competition specifically for art that is made out of recycled/previously used materials. Students of all ages and artistic abilities, school classrooms, clubs, and organizations are invited to participate. The competition was originally created by Barrie Herr as a recycling outreach program in 1991, and has continued under Tucson Clean and Beautiful.
When and Where: The showcase and competition will be held at the SAHBA Home & Patio Show on April 3rd, 4th and 5th at the TCC from 10:00a.m. to 8:00p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. on Sunday.
